This is probably the most comprehensive biography I have read. Interestingly enough it contains a reference to a 1997 episode of Xena Warrior Princess. Rumours of this performance are not new, but no verification has yet been found!

Michael Falzon

The Rat Pack's Back - Sunday Matinee - 21st September 2008

Since beginning his professional career in his late teens, Michael has worked throughout Australia, Asia, USA and UK, performing in theatre, concert, cabaret, television and film.

Michael is currently playing the role of Hedwig in David M Hawkins new production of Hedwig and the Angry Inch which will be playing throughout Australia in 2008/09. In September 2007 Michael played the role of The Artilleryman in the new production of Jeff Wayne’s The War of the Worlds which toured Australia and New Zealand.

In 2003 Michael became the voice of musical theatre by playing the lead role of Galileo in the Ben Elton/Queen hit show, We Will Rock You which Michael received Helpmann and Mo Award nominations. After reprising his role in WWRY Tokyo, Michael joined the cast of The Wharf Revue for Sydney Theatre Company in 2006 ahead of performing in Showstoppers with Sydney Symphony Orchestra   at Sydney Opera House and selling out Sydney's The Basement with his live solo show later that year.  Other credits include The Pirates of Penzance (Opera Queensland & Essgee Productions); Hello, Dolly! (GFO/Adelaide Festival Trust); H.M.S. Pinafore (Essgee Productions); Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat (The Really Useful Group); and In Concert with Michael Ball (Lyric Theatre, Sydney).

Michael is a director of SMA Productions, the producers of the sensational The Rat Pack’s Back and String Diva.  Since 2002, their shows have been seen at Sydney’s Twilight at Taronga, The Adelaide Festival, at Jupiters and Crown Casinos, and in concert with Michael Crawford.  Following the success of performing hundreds of shows around the world, 2004 marked the launch of The Rat Pack’s Back in London.

Michael has graced both the small and big screens as actor and vocalist.  In 2005, Michael appeared in the acclaimed role of Jose DeSousa in the final season of Blue Heelers.  He also performed live on stage with QUEEN in an A Current Affair special.  In the last two years, he has been a regular guest on GMA, performed at Carols by Candlelight, Carols in the Domain, the Good Friday Appeal and featured as a trigger-happy Spaniard in Abe Forsythe’s film, Ned (Ocean Pictures).  He led the cast of We Will Rock You at the Rod Laver Arena to close Melbourne’s season final of The Footy Show, and launched the Australian Open with his rendition of “We are the Champions”.  Michael also had the honour of singing “Bohemian Rhapsody” before a crowd of 80,000 at the AFL Grand Final, televised to millions around the world from the MCG.

Another personal highlight was being requested by Prime Minister John Howard to perform at the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM), where Michael had the privilege of singing ‘That’s Amore’ on the lap of British PM Tony Blair.

For his portrayal of “Galileo”, the leading role in the Australian production of We Will Rock You, Michael was cast by none other than Brian May and Roger Taylor of QUEEN and writer/director Ben Elton.  Said Brian May, in a cover story of The Sunday Times Magazine:

“The man who plays this character has to be a very good actor, a brilliant singer – the range and power of Freddie is rarely equaled – and he has to have one extra rare commodity.  He has to BE a rock star, for this is something beyond make-believe.  The people who see We Will Rock You believe they saw the real thing.  Michael was, and is, able to deliver the whole package.”

 Tsuki Marketing Biography
Michael Falzon wowed international audiences with his lead role in the Queen / Ben Elton musical We Will Rock You and has since increased his profile with performances in The Wharf Revue with the Sydney Theatre Company, Showstoppers with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra and performances at the 2006 Helpmann Awards and Opening Night of the 2007 Sydney Mardi Gras to name a few.

Tsuki is passionate about working with people who are driven by their star quality to succeed, and so it was with great pleasure that we began to work with Michael Falzon, one of Australia's most talented actors and singer / songwriters. Michael embodies the qualities of talent, perseverance, belief and extreme energy that sets him apart, and makes him a delight to work with.

Michael came on board with Tsuki to specifically launch his talents as a singer / songwriter. When working on We Will Rock You Michael worked closely with Brian May from Queen and it was directly through the encouragement of May that Michael decided to pursue this direction. On Wed 22 November, Michael Falzon burst onto stage at The Basement, Sydney for his debut solo show, playing to a jam packed room of fans, music and entertainment industry hot shots and celebrities.

The evening was a complete sell out success, with the audience loving Michael's own original songs, including Secret of Happiness, Signs of Life, One Day at a Time and She'll Be There. Michael Falzon 's debut solo show and the ongoing awareness as a hot upcoming singer to watch is paving the way to the successful launch of Michael's debut album due for release in 2007.

Michael Falzon Talks To Generation Q

The very talented Michael Falzon talks to Generation Q.

The very talented Michael Falzon talks to Generation Q.

Australian Theatre star, singer, songwriter Michael Falzon took time out to chat to Generation Q about his life as a performer on and off the road. We discussed his past achievements and what the future will hold for this talented and charismatic young man.

Best known to Australian audiences, Michael played the lead role in the musical
We Will Rock You
. Having the chance to perform in this powerful show gave Michael the chance to be a part of the cast not only in Australia but in Tokyo as well.

With that not being enough Michael also had the chance to perform for both the English and Australian Prime Minister. He sung That's Amore on
Tony Blair's
lap.

Michael is in high demand, not only in Australia but also overseas. This is thanks to his many business ventures that keep him busy, providing performers for entertainment events worldwide. The name of his company is SMA Productions.

Currently recording his yet untitled debut album, it is refreshing to see a young artist that gives so much emotion and honesty in his music. This is evident by his lyrics and the sound that he hopes will carry across to his audience.

Michael has many musical influences that cover a broad range of artists. This includes Queen of course, Fleetwood Mac, Coldplay, and U2 on the rock side of things. Within his musical influences, he likes
Cole Porter
and Gershwin.

Unlike many performers these days Michael is comfortable performing in any environment. This maybe a small theatre or playhouse through to the Sydney Opera House and the Lyric Theatre. This comfort stems from a variety of performing levels, weather it be stage or screen that Michael has worked on. You have to be able to want this he says, this is what makes you perform your best.

Michael is excited and pleased with the current state of
theatre
in Australia. Weather that be a musical or a play there are many opportunities for Australians to get out and see some great shows. In fact Australian theatre is quiet cheaper than Broadway or the Westend he proudly says.

Michael sure knows the work and tireless effort of many people that go into making a huge show such as We Will Rock You happen. Having to audition many times for this show, he finally had the chance to audition for Brian May and
Ben Elton
. Then he was thrown into two months of rehearsal in Melbourne for this amazing show. Australia was the first place outside of London that WWRY was performed.

The next special project for Michael is his debut album that will hopefully be released by April 2007. We can expect a mixture ballads and rock pop tunes. Sydney fans can get a sneak preview on November 22nd at The Basement.

With having so much on his plate, when Michael does get to relax he loves to read and just chill out and do nothing. Sounds like a great idea.

Generation Q will have a full review of his debut cd in 2007 and keep you up to date on this wonderful
Australian
artist.
